Types of Spread bets

Spread betting offers two main categories: the Asian spread bet and the European spread bet. Here's a breakdown of how they operate:

  • Asian Spread Bet:

The Asian spread bet involves two options: Team 1 winner and Team 2 winner. It can have integer values or decimal values such as 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00. Unlike European spread bets, the Asian spread bet does not include a "Draw" or "Tie" option. However, it allows for the possibility of full or partial returns on bets, offering greater flexibility to bettors.

In sports like soccer, Asian spread bets can be placed on goals, corners, or cards, providing a wider range of options compared to simple team victory bets. In basketball, Asian spread bets are also more popular as they offer more options when dealing with disproportionate odds ratios.

  • European Spread Bet:

The European spread bet, on the other hand, offers three options: Team 1 winner, Draw, and Team 2 winner. The values for this type of spread bet are limited to integers such as +/- 1.00, +/- 2.00, +/- 3.00, and so on. To illustrate how it works, let's use Team 1 and Team 2 as examples.

If a team starts with a spread of -2 (equivalent to a starting score of 0:2), it must prevail with a difference of at least 3 goals to win the bet. If the team wins with a score of 2:0, the bet will be considered a "Draw." In the case of a 1:0 victory, the bet labeled "Winning Team 2" will be deemed a draw.

  • Popular Types of Asian Spread Bets:

Handicap 0: The team you bet on must win. If the match ends in a draw, the stake is returned.

Example: Chelsea vs West Ham, you place a bet of 100 RON on Chelsea with Asian Handicap 0.0. If Chelsea wins, your bet is a winner. If the match ends in a draw, your stake is returned. If Chelsea lose, your bet is a no-win.

Handicap + 0.25: The team you bet on must win. If the match ends in a draw, only half of your stake is returned and your bet on the other half is a winner.

Example: Monaco vs Lyon, you place a bet of 100 RON on Monaco with an Asian Handicap -0.25. If Monaco wins, your bet is a winner. If the match ends in a draw, you lose half the stake (50 RON) and the other half (50 RON) is returned to you. If Lyon wins, your bet is a loser.

You place a bet of 100 RON on Lyon, with Asian Handicap +0.25. If Lyon wins, your bet is a winner. If the match ends in a draw, you get half of your stake back and win the other half (50 RON) at the odds placed. You are still in profit. If Lyon loses, your bet is a non-winner.

Handicap + 0.50: The team you bet on must win, or the game must end in a draw.

Example: Porto vs Benfica, you place a bet of 100 RON on Porto, with Asian Handicap -0.5. If Porto wins, your bet is a winner. If Benfica wins or the match ends in a draw, your bet is a non-winner.

You place a bet of 100 RON on Benfica with Asian Handicap +0.5. If Benfica wins or the match ends in a draw, your bet is a winner. If Porto wins, your bet is a non-winner.

Handicap + 0.75: The team you bet on must win, or the match must end in a draw. If the team you bet on loses by 1 goal, only half of the stake is returned.

Example: Betis vs Real Madrid, you place a bet of 100 RON on Betis, with Asian Handicap +0.75. If Betis wins or the match ends in a draw, your bet is a winner. If Real Madrid wins by a goal difference (0-1, 1-2, 2-3), you lose half of your stake (50 RON) and the other half (50 RON) is returned to you. If Real Madrid wins the match by two or more goals (0-2, 1-3, 0-3), you lose the bet amount.

You place a bet of 100 RON on Real Madrid with Asian Handicap -0.75. If Real Madrid wins the match by two or more goals, your bet wins. If Real Madrid wins the match by one goal (0-1, 1-2, 2-3), you win half the stake (50 RON) and the other half (50 RON) is returned to you. If the match ends in a draw or Betis wins, you lose the stake.

Handicap + 1: The team you bet on must win, or the game must end in a draw. If the team you bet on loses by 1 goal, the stake is returned in full.

Example: Juventus vs Bologna, you place a bet of 100 RON on Juventus, with Asian Handicap -1. If Juventus wins by two or more goals (2-0, 3-0, 3-1), your bet wins. If Juventus wins by one goal (1-0, 2-1, 3-2), your bet is returned. If the match ends in a draw or Bologna wins, your bet is a non-winner.

You place a bet of 100 RON on Bologna with Asian Handicap +1. If the match ends in a draw or Bologna wins, your bet is a winner. If Bologna loses by one goal (1-0, 2-1, 3-2), your bet is returned. If Juventus wins by two or more goals, your bet is a non-winner.

Handicap + 1.25: The team you bet on must win, or the match must end in a draw. If the team you bet on loses by 1 goal, only half of the stake is returned and the bet on the other half is a winner.
